Robert Hardy - Artist
The work of Robert Hardy is in three categories:
London, People and Places
The most recent pictures are inspired by living, working and walking the streets and places of London. Some landmarks and places hold a particular fascination. The Statue of Eros in Piccadilly, for example, presents groups of figures filling up the picture, moving and shifting in a state of flux, all searching for something indefinable and ineffable.
Travellers and Messengers
The archetypal figure of the traveller has been a constant preoccupation of Robert Hardy for many years. This not only relates to specific journeys made by him - to the Mediterranean and to India for example - but to the idea of a journey of life, of stages, meeting points, thresholds and places of embarkation.
Archive and Miscellaneous
The final section contains a variety of previous work - some that takes as a starting point imagery and themes that simply cannot be easily catagorised - landscapes, still lives, etc
